He passed away on February 8, 2009 at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord, Nebraska at the age of 80 years. He was raised in Republic and graduated from Republic High School in 1947. Read More	Garold E. "Ed" Morehead, the son of Ray and Wanda (Cure) Morehead, was born on December 3, 1928 at Republic, Kansas. He passed away on February 8, 2009 at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord, Nebraska at the age of 80 years. He was raised in Republic and graduated from Republic High School in 1947. From 1947-1949, Ed was a mechanic for International Harvester in Republic, Kansas. In March of 1949, Ed entered the United States Air Force and served as an auto equipment mechanic with the 3750th Motor Vehicle Squadron until his discharge in November 1952. While in the service he attended electrical and auto mechanic schools. He received such decorations as good conduct medal, Korean Service Medal, Japanese Occupation Medal and a United Nations Ribbon. After his discharge Ed worked as a carpenter, service station attendant and truck driver in several Nebraska communities and in Lovewell and Republic, Kansas. In October of 1957, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Nielsen at Superior, Nebraska. The couple moved to Greeley, Colorado in 1958 and later to Beatrice, Nebraska where Ed worked as a truck driver. In 1960, Ed began his career with the Bureau of Reclamation. His career took him to New Mexico, South Dakota, Colorado and Nebraska. The couple settled in Ord in 1982. During that time Ed worked on and helped complete the Calamus Dam Project. After 30 years Ed retired as an Electrical Mechanical Inspector with the Bureau in December of 1989. Ed was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed working on cars, watching football and NASCAR and camping in his younger days. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Melvin and Dale Morehead and an infant sister, Connie Morehead. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; a son, Mark Morehead; and a grandson, Cody Morehead all of Ord, Nebraska Graveside services will held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 2:00 PM from the Salem Lutheran Cemetery in rural Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Scot McCluskey officiating. Inurnment is in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Superior, Nebraska Memorial in care of the family. Condolences may be sent to Megrue-Price Funeral Home, PO Box 282, Superior, NE 68978. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska was in charge of the arrangements.
