Son of John Williby and Leticia Kneely OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, January 6, 1916 GEORGE A. WILLIBY Mr. George A. Williby, one of the early pioneers of Lucas county, passed away at his home in Chariton on Sunday, January 2nd, 1916, at the advanced age of 85 years and three days, after an extended illness. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. E. E. Ilgenfritz, pastor of the M. E. church, were held at the home of his son, J. W. Williby, on north Main street, on Wednesday forenoon at 10 o'clock, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Brownlee cemetery northeast of this city. George A. Williby was born near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on December 30th, 1830. On November 25th, 1851, he was united in marriage to Sarah Pinkerton. To this union eight children were born, seven sons and one daughter. Three sons died in infancy and one son, J. T., passed away in July 1908. Those surviving are J. C., of Omaha, Nebr., Lewis and James W., of Chariton; and Mrs. W. G. Vickroy, of Knoxville, all of whom were in attendance at the last sad rites yesterday. Mr. Williby and family came to this county in 1853 and settled on a farm seven and a half miles north of Chariton, where they resided until March, 1888, when they moved to Chariton and this place has since been their home. His wife preceded him in death in 1899, and he was afterward married to Mrs. Lovina Helm, who survives him. In addition the the children named above, Mr. Williby is survived by twenty grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, one brother, Robert Williby, of Gilson, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. Jas. Boylan, of this city. All of these sorrowing ones will have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement.
