He was born on October 16, 1928, to Paul Behnke and Ina Traver Behnke in Winamac, Indiana. Read More	George Behnke Oct. 16, 1928 - Sept. 4, 2008 MONTICELLO - George Behnke, 79, of 526 Beechwood Drive, Monticello, Indiana, formerly of Francesville, IN, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2008, in White County Hospital, Monticello, IN. He was born on October 16, 1928, to Paul Behnke and Ina Traver Behnke in Winamac, Indiana. On April 30, 1949, in Bruce Lake, Indiana, he married Margaret Herbert, who preceded him in death on May 28, 1984. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul Behnke Jr., Ronald Behnke and Ralph Behnke; a sister, Edna Behnke; a brother-in-law, Gerald Crowl; and a great-grandson, Jarod Zimmer. George Behnke was a retired truck driver for Ruan Transport, and a retired custodian from the West Central School Corp. He was a member of the Francesville First Christian Church, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. George enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. George Behnke is survived by his sons, Gary (Barbara) Behnke of Lakeville, IN, and Richard Dean Behnke of DeMotte, Indiana; a daughter, Rebecca (Darrell) Beckner of Monticello, Indiana; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; his sister, Ruth Crowl of Syracuse, Indiana; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Behnke will be held at 1 p.m. EDT Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, in Frain Mortuary, Querry-Ulbricht Chapel-Francesville, Francesville, Indiana, with Pastor James Ketchen officiating. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. EDT Tuesday, September 9, 2008, in the Frain Mortuary, Querry-Ulbricht Chapel-Francesville. Burial will take place at Roseland Cemetery located in Francesville, with military graveside services conducted by the American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Hospice.
