Description	:	************************************************** George Demmer was born February 22, 1837 in Gols, Austria-Hungary. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at that place. On November 22, 1858 he was united in marriage to Miss Rosina Forster. This union was blessed with four children, two sons and two daughters, the two sons dying in infancy in the old country. The oldest daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Wurm, died on May 16, 1886 at the age of 23, leaving a husband and small daughter. Read More	************************************************ George Demmer was born February 22, 1837 in Gols, Austria-Hungary. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at that place. On November 22, 1858 he was united in marriage to Miss Rosina Forster. This union was blessed with four children, two sons and two daughters, the two sons dying in infancy in the old country. The oldest daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Wurm, died on May 16, 1886 at the age of 23, leaving a husband and small daughter. Mr. Demmer with his family, came to this country in June 1882 and settled down on a farm 5 1/2 miles northeast of Crete, where he still lived at the time of his death. He passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 9 at 1:00 p.m., after an illness of only a few days at the age of 88 years, 6 months, and 18 days. Shortly after coming to this country he became a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church at Kramer, Nebraska of which he was a faithful member until the time of his death, serving the congregation for many years as a trustee and elder. He was a member of the church 43 years. Had he lived until November 22, 1925, Mr. and Mrs. Demmer would have been married 67 years. He leaves to mourn his death, his aged widow, one daughter, Mrs. Wm. Henning, with whom he has made his home, a son-in-law, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and an aged sister, Mrs. M. Ecker of Clifton, Colorado and a number of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday a 2:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church at Kramer. Rev. Alb. H. Cholcher officiating.
