She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at that place. On November 22, 1858 she was united in marriage with Mr. George Demmer, who preceded her in death seven years ago and lies in peaceful slumber in the Lutheran cemetery at Kramer. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at that place. On November 22, 1858 she was united in marriage with Mr. George Demmer, who preceded her in death seven years ago and lies in peaceful slumber in the Lutheran cemetery at Kramer. This union was blessed with four children: two sons and two daughters. The two sons died in infancy in the old country. The eldest daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Demmer Wurm, died on May 16, 1886 at the age of 23, leaving a husband and a small daughter. Mrs. Demmer, with her family, came to this country in June 1882 and settled on a farm five and one-half miles northeast of Crete, where she still lived at the time of her death. She passed away peacefully on Christmas day, after an illness of only a few days, at the age of 91 years, 8 months, and 17 days. Shortly after coming to this country, the deceased became a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran church. She had been a faithful member all her life. She leaves to mourn her death: one daughter, Mrs. William Henning, with whom she had made her home; a son-in-law, six grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren and a great host of other relatives and friends.
