One of the most successful farmers of the community and the owner of a couple of good farms east of town. Frank retired from active work in 1920 since which time he had made his home in Coon Rapids devoting his time to looking after his various business interests. A good cigar was his inseperable companion. Frank was born in Guthrie county shortly after the Civil War and spent his entire life here with the exception of several winters in California. A good business man he was also a good neighbor and enjoyed visiting with his many friends where ever he might meet them. An active Mason he enjoyed the fellowship of Charity Lodge No. 197, A. F. & A. M. and of Alpha Chapter 130 R. A. M. He was also a member of Faith Chapter 308 O. E. S. In the absence of his good friend, Rev. Clayburg, Rev. C. W. Hohanshelt of Bayard had charge of the services at the M. E. church Wednesday afternoon and preached the funeral sermon. The local Masonic lodge had charge of the services at the cemetery, C. E. Tucker delivering the oration at the grave. The obituary follows: George Frank Teter was born near Coon Rapids, Iowa, November 9, 1868, and departed this life at Perry, Iowa, July 1, 1933, at the age of 64 years 7 months and 22 days. He was married to Margaret Rosetta Shawd January 1, 1890, To this union seven children were born two of whom died in infancy. The mother of these children died September 8, 1928, and one son, Delbert, about a year ago. On September 24, 1930, he married Mrs. Jennie Daily Smith who with his four children, Rose, Otis and Howard of Coon Rapids and Alvin of Des Moines are left to mourn his passing. He also leaves five grandchildren, two brothers, Dawson and Sam Teter of Sherwood, North Dakota, and one aunt, Mrs. Adeline Shane, of Coon Rapids, besides other relatives and many friends.
