Goodnatured and bighearted, he had a host of friends in this community in which he was born and where he had always lived. His passing was most untimely. Funeral services were held at the Coder Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. O. E. Cooley preached the funeral sermon. Music was by a male quartette composed of Douglas Coder, Keith Textor, Dale Textor and Wayne Cooley. Casket bearers were Dan Weaver, Kinney Danner, Lester Patrick, Forrest Smith, Andy McLaughlin, Wm. Carpenter. Interment was in the Coon Rapids cemetery. The obituary as read by the Rev. Cooley follows: Howard Oliver Teter, son of Frank and Margaret Teter, was born near Coon Rapids, Iowa, November 17, 1902. He passed away at Coon Rapids on Sept. 5, 1937 at the age of 34 years, 9 months and 18 days. He spent his life on the old family home northeast of Coon Rapids. His father passed away four years ago and his mother nine years ago. He leaves to mourn his death a daughter, Nadine, of Bayard; two brothers, Otis of Coon Rapids and Alvin of Minneapolis, Minn., one sister, Mrs. Charles Sherrill of Coon Rapids besides other relatives and many friends. Howard received his public school education in the country school near the family home. In boyhood he attended the Methodist Sunday school with his parents. He was endowed with, a good physique and was interested in athletic sports, particularly wrestling. He was generous hearted and would do all he could for a friend. His untimely death resulted from a tragic automobile accident which occurred last Wednesday evening. Everything possible was done to spare his life but it was of no avail.
