Description	:	George Otte was born in Germany and emigrated to the United States with a younger brother in 1848. They arrived in New York. George settled in Jackson County, Indiana, where he lived about six years. In 1856 he moved to Page County, Iowa, and settled eight miles north of Clarinda; here he lived nine years. George settled in Jackson County, Indiana, where he lived about six years. In 1856 he moved to Page County, Iowa, and settled eight miles north of Clarinda; here he lived nine years. In 1865 he came to Fremont County and settled on the farm where his death occurred. He was married 25 Mar 1852 in Jackson County, Indiana, to Johana Klinge, also a native of Germany. To these parents were born eleven children: Rachel (Martin), George W, Anna Charlotte Otte (Ruse), William F, Louis (killed by lightening in 1875 age 13 years), Charles E, Albert G, Alzina (died age 8 yeas), Jesse A, Fred G, and James G. George became a large land owner and a very influential citizen. Joanna died in 1891 at the age of 57 years. George died at his farm in 1901 at the age of 71 years 5 months 13 days.
