Description	:	Johana was the daughter of George Klinge and Hanne Sohm, a native of Hanover, Germany. She came to the United States at the age of 18 with her sister, Charlotte, arriving in New York in 1850. On 25 Mar 1852 she married George Otte, also a native of Germany, in Jackson County, Indiana. In 1856 the family moved to Page County, Iowa, and settled eight miles north of Clarinda. In 1865 they came to Fremont County, Iowa, and settled on a farm. She came to the United States at the age of 18 with her sister, Charlotte, arriving in New York in 1850. On 25 Mar 1852 she married George Otte, also a native of Germany, in Jackson County, Indiana. In 1856 the family moved to Page County, Iowa, and settled eight miles north of Clarinda. In 1865 they came to Fremont County, Iowa, and settled on a farm. George and Johana had eleven children: Rachel (Martin), George W, Anna Charlotte Otte (Ruse), William F, Louis (killed by lightening in 1875 age 13 years), Charles E, Albert G, Alzina (died age 8 yeas), Jesse A, Fred G, and James G. George became a large land owner and a very influential citizen. Johana died of heart disease in 1891 at their farm north of Sidney at the age of 57 years 3 months 5 days. George died at their farm in 1901 at the age of 71 years 5 months 13 days.
