Jesse was raised on his father's farm north of Sidney, and received his education in the district schools. He married Maude Wilson and they had one son; Harold. Jesse was a farmer, adopting modern methods, using the latest inventions in machinery, and instituting many experiements himself. His farm consisted of 180 acres and he was one of the most successful farmers in the county of Fremont. Jesse died in 1913 at the young age of 40 years.
