Description	:	GEORGE SEIBERT 1930-2008 HICKSVILLE – George G. Seibert, 77, died Friday, Aug. 1 at Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville. He was born Oct. 8, 1930 in Defiance, the son of Robert and Gertrude (Weber) Seibert. A 1948 graduate of Defiance High School, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951-53. On Oct. 6, 1956, he was united in marriage to Barbara Meyer, who survives. He retired from Dana/Weatherhead, Antwerp, after 23 years of employment. He was born Oct. 8, 1930 in Defiance, the son of Robert and Gertrude (Weber) Seibert. A 1948 graduate of Defiance High School, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951-53. On Oct. 6, 1956, he was united in marriage to Barbara Meyer, who survives. He retired from Dana/Weatherhead, Antwerp, after 23 years of employment. He served as a volunteer fireman with the Hicksville Fire Department for 30 years. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hicksville, Hicksville Eagles Aerie #2556, Knights of Columbus, Defiance VFW, Hicksville American Legion Post 223, and the Moose Lodge of Cleveland, Fla. Also surviving are two daughters, Angela (Brian) Slattery of Hicksville and Ann (Troy) Sonner, Bowling Green; two sons, Alan (Chris) of Grover Hill and Andrew (Andrea), Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren, Michelle and Jeremy Slattery, Alex, Bailey, Garett and Parker Seibert, and Cole and Grant Sonner; a sister, Mary Seibert MSC; and two brothers, Robert and Joe (Lucille), both of Bryan. He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony; his parents; and two brothers, Mike and John. A funeral mass was held Monday, Aug. 4 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hicksville, with Fr. Tom Oedy officiating. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville, with military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 223. Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church.
