George Van Horn, 21, a student at the Wartburg theological college at Clinton, Iowa died last evening at 9 o'clock in the Bellevue hospital, following a four week's illness with anemia. The fuenral will take place from the Lutheran Home chapel Tuesday afternoon at 2 'o'clock in charge of Rev. O. D. Proehl, director of Wartburg college, and the Rev. William Klein, superintendent ol the Lutheran Orphans home. Burial will be in the Lutheran Home cemetery. The body will remain at the Wittich funeral home until Monday. Source Aug. 28, 1927 ========================== From the Muscatine IA, Journal Aug. 27, 1927 George Van Horn George Van Horn 21, who made his home for the past fifteen years has made his home at the Lutheran Orphan's home here died at Bellevue hospital at 9 o'clock last evening after an illness of about 4 weeks. Death was due to anemia. He was born Aug. 13, 1906 at Great Bend Kansas., being the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Van Horn. He came to Lutheran home at the age of 6, and made his home there since. For the past five years he has been a student at Wartburg college, Clinton, Ia. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving are two brothers, Chester of Fairfield and Charles, Muscatine and two sisters, Mrs. Chester Oppel and Mrs. Archie Brewer, both of Muscatine. Funeral services will be conducted from the home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. O. L. Proehl, director of Wartburg college, Clinton. Burial will be in the cemetery at the Lutheran home. Note The name Oppel is suppose to be Oppelt. A note from me (June Brewer Welsch) my mother told me that George had a small growth on his nose that he had removed and he kept dripping blood.
