Description	:	George Hodson was born October 31, 1852, on the family farm northwest of Salem where he spent his entire life farming the land. He was the son of George and Rebecca (Osborn) Hodson. On October 21, 1896, he married Eliza J. Mitchell in Pekin, Keokuk County, Iowa. On June 4, 1898, their son George Dewey Hodson was born. The Hodsons motored to California, in December, 1940, to spend the remainder of the winter. Read More	George Hodson was born October 31, 1852, on the family farm northwest of Salem where he spent his entire life farming the land. He was the son of George and Rebecca (Osborn) Hodson. On October 21, 1896, he married Eliza J. Mitchell in Pekin, Keokuk County, Iowa. On June 4, 1898, their son George Dewey Hodson was born. The Hodsons motored to California, in December, 1940, to spend the remainder of the winter. He became ill in January, and died after a few days of confinement on January 31, 1941, in Long Beach, California. Mrs. Hodson was ill at the time of her husband’s death, and her husband’s remains were held at Long Beach until she was able to accompany them back to Iowa. Mrs. Hodson and her son Dewey arrived home on Sunday, February 23, and her husband’s body arrived in Fort Madison by train on the same day. Funeral services were held at Cedar Creek Friends Church on February 25th, and burial was in the Cedar Cemetery near the Church. George Hodson was the last of a family of eight children. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Isaac Newton Hodson, William H.H. Hodson, Zachariah L. Hodson, Richard L. Hodson, James L. Hodson, Adrian Hodson, and Elanora L. Hodson.
