Description	:	George Howell was born April 9, 1848 in Belmount, Ohio, where he grew to manhood and received his education. When the civil war broke out he was too young to enlist at the beginning being only 13 years old. Later he enlisted March 21, 1865 and served to the end of the struggle and was discharged on July 9, 1865. After some years he became acquainted with Miss Nancy Rozell and on April 13, 1884 they were united in marriage. To this union were born two sons: Jacob of Chester and James of Hebron. When the civil war broke out he was too young to enlist at the beginning being only 13 years old. Later he enlisted March 21, 1865 and served to the end of the struggle and was discharged on July 9, 1865. After some years he became acquainted with Miss Nancy Rozell and on April 13, 1884 they were united in marriage. To this union were born two sons: Jacob of Chester and James of Hebron. In the year 1886 he with his family came west and for a short time stopped in Thayer county (sic) and then went on to Redwillow (sic) county (sic) Here they resided until 1910 when they sold their home and came back to Thayer county (sic), settling in Hebron, which has been his home until the time of his death which occured (sic) last Sunday morning, May 22, being 79 years, 1 month and 13 days of age. Mr. Howell confessed his faith in Christ about 30 years ago when he was living in Redwillow (sic) county (sic) and placed his membership with the Baptist church where it has remained. Mr. Howell has been a sufferer for many months and for many, many weeks he has been confined to his bed until death relieved him. He was honest industrious and one who loved his family and was kind to all who knew him. Funeral services were held at his home in Hebron Tuesday, May 24th and interment in the Chester cemetery (sic). -- Register-Champion
