Description	:	George Wurtz (as printed in the Polk Progress 12-4-1958) George Wurtz was born December 13, 1876 in the Polk area. He was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was later married in the same church to Ida Kroeger. He farmed in the Polk area and also operated a cream station for two years and served as marshal. Read More	George Wurtz (as printed in the Polk Progress 12-4-1958) George Wurtz was born December 13, 1876 in the Polk area. He was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was later married in the same church to Ida Kroeger. He farmed in the Polk area and also operated a cream station for two years and served as marshal. For 12 years he ooperated a store at Wiggle Creek. He also lived at Loup City and North Platte. On November 24 he died at North Platte at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 11 days. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Ida of North Platte, a daughter, Mrs. Dan Chamberlain of North Platte, a son Ernest “Bud” Wurtz of California. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. John Smith, and Mrs. Martin Baack of Polk, Mrs. Merlin Hill of Corvalis, Oregon and a brother Harry Wurtz of York. Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 28 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Marvin Gruett officiating. Music was by a quartette, Irvin Blase, Lavern Schulze, Elmer Wilshusen and Kenneth Wilshusen. Pallbearers were nephews, Herb Wurtz, Bob Baack, Charles Norquest, Ivan Smith, Vergil Wurtz, Herbert Opfer. Interment was in the Immanuel Lutheran cemetery.
