Description	:	George L. Shaw, the son of Merle and Gladys (Baumbach) Shaw, was born on February 7, 1919 at his parent's home near Cadams, Nebraska. He passed away on November 4, 2010 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 8 months and 27 days. George was a truck driver for Hermann Brothers Trucking for 12 years and also worked for K. J. Smidt Construction for many years. Shaw, the son of Merle and Gladys (Baumbach) Shaw, was born on February 7, 1919 at his parent's home near Cadams, Nebraska. He passed away on November 4, 2010 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 8 months and 27 days. George was a truck driver for Hermann Brothers Trucking for 12 years and also worked for K. J. Smidt Construction for many years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army from August 11, 1944 until being honorably discharged on November 11, 1945. He was a former member of the V.F.W., Elks, Eagles and the American Legion. He was currently a member of the Saint Joseph's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #7714. George was formerly employed at the Superior Commodities Office and the Superior Family Medical Center for 20 years. George enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, camping and boating. He had a love of animals and spent his free time maintaining his home. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Robert Shaw on May 16, 2007 and a sister Marceline Bargen. He is survived by his wife Lawrene Shaw of the home, his sister, Phyllis Lincoln and husband Wilber "Abe" of Wichita, KS, one step-daughter Connie White of Lincoln, NE and a step-son Ron Klapal and wife Theresa of McPherson, KS; three step-grandchildren, Megan, Tanner and Jennifer and one step-great-grandson, Conner; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, November 8, 2010 from the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Superior with Father Brad Zitek officiating. Lector was Melvin Menke. Servers were Ben Price and Jared Dressman. Rosary services were held on Sunday, November 7, 2010 from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Steve Lincoln, Dick Fish, Darold Hiatt, Chuck Bridwell, Sam Willett, and Eldon Thompson. Interment with full military rites was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska. Memorials may go in care of the American Diabetes Foundation or the Amercian Heart Association. Condolences may be sent to Megrue-Price Funeral Home, PO Box 282, Superior, NE 68978.
