Description	:	George Leroy Abbott- December 20, 1886 to September 8, 1945 Roy Abbott, 58, son of one of Hanford's first city councilmen, died of a heart attack at the home of his cousin, Oscar Abbott, at Ivy and Kaweah Streets, at 10:30 a m Saturday. Read More	George Leroy Abbott- December 20, 1886 to September 8, 1945 Roy Abbott, 58, son of one of Hanford's first city councilmen, died of a heart attack at the home of his cousin, Oscar Abbott, at Ivy and Kaweah Streets, at 10:30 a m Saturday. Abbott came here Friday from Monterey, his home for a number of years, for a dove hunt in his native King's County. A friend, Henry Thiel, of Chowchilla accompanied him here. The two spent a little time Friday afternoon hunting and went out for further shooting Saturday morning. On their way back to the home of his cousin, where the hunters were guests, Abbott complained of a pain in his chest and said he was not feeling well. After reaching the Oscar Abbott home they started to pack up to return to their homes when suddenly Abbott slumped to the floor and passed away before a physician could arrive. Coroner Walter Wilson directed an autopsy which showed that death was due to " coronary occlusion " which is a heat ailment. Abbott was raised here, attending the local schools and was popular in a large circle of friends who were particularly interested in out-door sports. His father was the late William ( Bill ) Abbott, who owned the building known as the Brakoulias building, and other business property. Abbott's wife accompanied him from Monterey to Madera, on his trip to the valley and was there when her husband's death occurred. His mother lives in San Francisco. He leaves no children.
