Description	:	George Lewis, son of Rachael and John Lewis, was born in Rossville, Illinois August 11, 1861 and departed this life at Aurora, Nebraska August 4, 1946 at the age of 84 years, 11 months, 24 days. He came to Nebraska at 9 years of age and has resided in the State continuously since that time. With the exception of 2 years in Phelps County and 3 years in York County he has resided in Hamilton County. Read More	George Lewis, son of Rachael and John Lewis, was born in Rossville, Illinois August 11, 1861 and departed this life at Aurora, Nebraska August 4, 1946 at the age of 84 years, 11 months, 24 days. He came to Nebraska at 9 years of age and has resided in the State continuously since that time. With the exception of 2 years in Phelps County and 3 years in York County he has resided in Hamilton County. On September 8, 1886 he was united in marriage to Ellen Mary McClay who preceded him in death on June 25, 1940. To this union five children were born and remaining to mourn his passing are: one daughter Mrs. Mabel Sawyer, Hampton, Hamilton, NE and four sons, Lee of Grand Island, Roy of Central City, Glenn of Hampton and Charles of Kearney. Also two half sisters, Mrs. Vianna Mason of Hampton, Hamilton, NE and Mrs. Edna Shaw of Washington; one half brother Tobias Gephart of California; 13 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren; 1 great great grandchild having died in infancy. Also preceeding him in death were one brother, one sister, one half-brother. He leaves a host of other relatives and friends. Since the passing of his wife, he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Sawyer of Hampton, Hamilton, NE. He was a member of the Modern Woodman Lodge and for a number of years was an active member and trusted officer of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. When his health permitted he attended regularly the services of the Marquette United Brethren Church and later years listened attentively to various church services on the radio. He was a good Father and will be greatly missed by those left to mourn his passing.
