Gideon George L. Gideon, 87 years old veteran of county politics and father of Mayor Frank Gideon of Emmett, died December 20, at the home of a daughter in Onaga. Mr. Gideon was a pioneer who settled around St. Clere in 1876 and resided in that region the balance of his life. During his years of retirement he frequently wrote leters to the newspaper discussing public questions. When but a child he moved with his widowed mother and family to Belmont county, Ohio, where he grew to manhod. In 1871, he and his brother, Thomas migrated to Kansas settling near St. Clere, where he made his home. When but a young man he united with the Methodist Church and kept the faith to end. He was united in marriage to Lucinda Elizabeth Boan, August 8, 1880 at St. Clere, Kansas. To this union twelve children were born. Two dying in infancy. Ten children survive him: Mrs. Mary Page, Gill, Colorado, Mrs. Julia Sumner, Long Beach, Calif., Mrs Sarah Munch, Stuart, Fla., George O. Greeley, Colo., Frank Gideon, Emmett, Mrs. Edna Woolpert of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs Minnie McCabe, Bucalo, Mont., Mrs. Lena Hoover, Onaaga, Seymour Gideon, Jensen, Fla., John Gideon, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Also 31 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, N.E. Gideon, Newkirk, Okla., W.F. Gideon, Ohio and one sister: Mrs. Minnie Beller, St. Clere, survive, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 o'clock at Mt. Olive Church with Rev. C.C. French in charge. Interment was in Mt. Olive cemetery, beside his wife who preceded him in death several years ago. Pallbearers were Don Cawer, Clifford Boling, Roy Lasswell, Raymond Stegle, Bud Devolld Louis Summer.
