Carmel Medical Center in Pittsburg, Kansas. He was born in Ottawa County, Kansas on October 22, 1915, the son of Geroge W. and Emma Kiziah (Shroyer) Wiltse. On December 1, 1940 he married Iva B. "Cy" Wiltse, 92, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away Friday, March 21, 2008 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center in Pittsburg, Kansas. He was born in Ottawa County, Kansas on October 22, 1915, the son of Geroge W. and Emma Kiziah (Shroyer) Wiltse. On December 1, 1940 he married Iva B. Wheeler in Erie, Kansas. He was a member of the 8th Infantry Division during World War II. He served stateside duties as the war ended prior to overseas assignment. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1933 until 1934 in Northern Minnesota where he did forestry and road work. George worked on the construction of the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, WPA Projects, MKT Railroad and as a cable tool driller for Gordon Willis Oil Company. He retired from Chanute Manufacturing Company in 1983. George and his wife Iva recently moved to the Pittsburg area to be closer to family members. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church for over 70 years where he taught an adult Bible Study Class and was a Deacon. He was known for his visits and prayers with elderly and disabled shut-ins and those in nursing homes and hospitals. He met his wife Iva while visiting at the old Johnson Hospital in Chanute. His life was centered around his family, church and work. George had a big smile and never "met a stranger". He is survived by his wife, Iva, of the home; son Charles Wiltse and wife Bobbie of Parsons, KS; daughters Nina Hurford of Chanute, KS, Carolyn Rose and companion Roger Schuttenhelm of Chandler, AZ, and Betty Urich and husband Skip of Pittsburg, KS; grandchildren, Angela Haviland and husband Kevin of Parsons, KS, Mark Patton of Sedona, AZ, Richard Rose and wife Denise of Wenatchee, WA, Chris and Jonathan Wiltse of Overland Park, KS, Ben Urich of Lawrence, KS, and Erin Urich of Pittsburg, KS; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Warner Wiltse of Toledo, OH; and sisters, Dorothy Lawyer of Concordia, KS, and Geraldine Bennett of Longmont, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joy, John, Leonard and Calvin; and sisters, Vilas Dessell and Ida Wheeler. Funeral services will be March 27, 2008 at the Living Word Assembly of God Church, Chanute, Kansas, with the Reverend David Collins and Reverend Milton Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery on east 14th in Chanute, Kansas. Memorials in his name may be made to Faith House Homeless Shelter. **********************
