He had partaken of supper and reportedly was in good health and spirit when he retired. His daughter entered the room shortly after to give him a drink of water and found her father dead. Michael came to Artois, then Germantown 54 years ago. He acquired a farm and began the raising of grain. He gradually increased his land holdings in land and became one of the largest producers of wheat and barley in the county. Michael was well known in Willows where he was a frequent visitor. Survived by Four Deceased is survived by four children: Mrs. Edward Thode of Orland; Miss Martha Clara and Ernest who lived with their father; two brothers, Henry of Willows and Martin of Artois; a sister Catherine of Germany and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the family home at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3rd, followed by rites at the Lutheran Church at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Ferdinand Mathias will conduct the services. – Transcribed by M.
