Read More	"Orland Unit" (Orland, California), Friday, 14 September 1928: Mrs. George Michael Mrs. George Michael died at her home near Artois on Monday, September 10th. She had been ill for about ten days, but her family did not have any idea, nor did she, that the end was so near. Her death came suddenly, but peacefully, and she lay down to rest, having completed a useful life, one that will be remembered by all who knew her as one worth while, as one ful of good deeds and good example. Mrs. Michael was born in Holstein, Germany on February 28th, 1854, and was thus 74 years, 6 months and ten day of age at the time of her death. At the age of 26, in 1881, she came to America, making her home near Artois. There she met, and in 1889 married Mr. Michael. Three daughters and one son were born to the union and survive to mourn the loss of a mother. The children are Martha, Clara and Ernest Michael, all still making their home on the ranch near Artois, and Mrs. Ed. Thode of Orland. There are also four grand children. The funeral was held from the Artois Lutheran church on Wednesday afternoon, the services being conducted by the pastor, Rev. F. Matthias, and was attended by a large congregation of old friends and neighbors, all of whom felt that in her loss they had been bereaved of a true friend and neighbor.
