He was born in Longview, Feb. 18, 1942, and lived in the area all of his life. He is survived at home by his wife of 20 years...and his constant canine sidekick, Jazzirose. Also surviving are two sons...two daughters...two sisters...eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three stepsons; and his nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Albert and Ruby L. (Mitchell) Martin; and two brothers, Frank W. Martin and Albert J. Martin. George... He was born in Longview, Feb. 18, 1942, and lived in the area all of his life. He is survived at home by his wife of 20 years...and his constant canine sidekick, Jazzirose. Also surviving are two sons...two daughters...two sisters...eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three stepsons; and his nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Albert and Ruby L. (Mitchell) Martin; and two brothers, Frank W. Martin and Albert J. Martin. George left Kelso High School in 1959 to join the Army and did his tour of duty in Germany during the time the Berlin Wall was built. While in the service he received a Good Conduct Medal. He also served time in the National Guard for a number of years. He worked in the logging industry as an equipment operator until he retired. After retiring, George spent most of his time building yard decorations and working on his model airplane. Most of all, George loved working in his garden, growing vegetables for the whole family. He never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with people. He will be missed by many."
