Description	:	Burial Made at Bloomington George Norbeck, of Redfield, a former resident of Platte and a prominent well driller, died in a Rapid City hospital early Saturday morning. He had been suffering from heart trouble for some time and had been serious ill for nearly two weeks. Read More	Burial Made at Bloomington George Norbeck, of Redfield, a former resident of Platte and a prominent well driller, died in a Rapid City hospital early Saturday morning. Three funeral services were held for Mr. Norbeck, one at Rapid City Sunday morning; a second at Redfield Monday afternoon; and a third at Platte Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in Bloomington cemetery beside the graves of his brother, the late Senator Peter Norbeck, who died in December, 1936, and his father, Rev. George Norbeck, pioneer South Dakota Lutheran minister. Mr. Norbeck was born April 25, 1882, in Clay county, near Vermillion, and moved to Charles Mix county, near Platte at an early age. From the time of his marriage in 1906, to 1912, he drilled wells in North Dakota, and then went to Redfield to manage the old Norbeck and Nicholson company where the Senator entered politics. The old company was succeeded by the Norbeck company in 1924, and at the time of his death he was president of the concern which operated in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, North and South Dakota. In this state the two companies drilled about 12,000 wells. He often assisted his brother and in 1932 successfully managed the Senator's last campaign. He also successfully managed the Hiram Johnson South Dakota presidential primary campaign in 1924. South Dakota was the only state which Johnson carried. Although he never ran for any public office, Mr. Norbeck was active in progressive Republican circles. Mr. Norbeck is survived by his widow, four sons, Herbert Norbeck, Redfield; Kermit Norbeck and family, Pierre; Sterling Norbeck and family, Redfield, and Robert P. Norbeck who lives with his mother; a daughter, Miss Helen Norbeck, Sturgis; a brother, Enoch Norbeck, Platte; and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Haugen, Redfield, and Mrs. M.L. Anderson, Hillsboro.
