George Phillip Muret, a pioneer Kansan, died suddenly at his home six miles south of town yesterday afternoon at 4:50. His death comes as a shock to his family and friends. He had been ailing for the past three weeks but was able to be up and around and ate at the table with the family yesterday afternoon. Mr. Muret was born in Switzerland, Indiana, March 8, 1844. At the time of his death he was 76 years, 10 months and 27 days of age. On April 11, 1866 he was married to Miss Rosana Markland. To this union were born nine children as follows, Mrs. Zora Holland, Chandler, Okla.; L.G. of Kildare, Okla., C.W. of Ponca City, Okla., George Jr., who died August 1915, E.C. of Winfield, Hugh, of Winfield, and Miss Myrtle of Winfield. Two brothers, Frank of Kildard, Oklahoma and William H. of Winfield, two sisters, Mrs. Ella Torrance and Mrs. Sally Lee both of Bennington, Indiana were the others left to mourn his death. Mrs. Muret died September 3, 1906. In the fall of 1887 he moved to a farm near Arkansas City and a year later he moved to the farm south of town where he died. Mr. Muret was a respected citizen, a man of high ideals. He will not only be greatly missed in his home but in the neighborhood where he had been a neighbor and friends so many years. Mr. Muret was a devoted Christian man, a member of the Hackney Baptist church. The funeral services will be held at the Hackney Baptist church tomorrow afternoon at 2:30, Rev. J.J.
