Dies at home, six miles north of Arkansas City, Wednesday night. He had been seriously ill only two weeks. Mr. Muret had been a leader and a resident of this territory for 58 years. Since 1888, he had resided on his farm where he died. The original log cabin of the Muret family in the early days has been maintained as a landmark close to the present day large white country home. Mr. Muret had spent much time in keeping the old cabin in repair. To County in 1883. The veteran farmer was born May 31, 1860, on a farm near Vevay, Ind. In JUne 1888, he and his wife moved to Cowley county and settled near Arkansas City. Five years later they moved to the present farm in Kildare. Mr. Muret was a prominent and progressive citizen in his neighborhood. He early became a member of the Pleasant Valley Methodist church. For many years he served on the district school board. He was a longtime member of the Pleasant Valley Grange. He was the oldest member of the Terum club - an organization of the Muret family (the club title being joined by turnnig the name of Muret backwards). The family had numerous reunions and family gatherings. Mr. Muret's first wife died in 1904. In February 1910 he was married to Mrs. Myrtle Graves of near Winfield, who has been a faithful companion. Survivors, in addition to his widow include five children; William Muret, Edward Muret and Mrs. Harry King of near Winfield, Mrs. Farl Godfrey of route four, Arkansas City and Mrs. Joe Sommers of Wichita, several grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Ella Torrance, of Portland, Ore., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 o'clock in the Hackney United Brethren church with the Rev. Mr. Ward of Winfield officiating, assisted by the Rev. C.O. Nantz of Hackney.
