He had entered the hospital Friday evening. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's church. The Rev. Fr. Emmett McCoy will offer the requiem mass. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's church. The Rev. Fr. Emmett McCoy will offer the requiem mass. Burial, with military honors, will be in the family lot in the Carroll city cemetery. Maurice Dunn Post No. 7, American Legion, will be in George Nestle charge of the military service. The body is resting at the Sharp Funeral home, where the rosary will bo prayed at 8 o'clock tonight. At 7:30 tomorrow evening the Elks memorial service will be given at the funeral home. The rosary will be led by the Rev. Fr. McCoy at 8 o'clock tomorrow night. At 8:30, the rosary will be prayed by members of the Knights of Columbus, who are asked to meet at the K. of C hall at 8 o'clock and go from there to the funeral home. Mr. Nestle was known throughout this area for his annual Easter egg hunts, which he staged each year for children, who called him "Uncle George." When the weather permitted, the hunts were held on the Beiter acreage southeast of Carroll. The seventh consecutive one was held this year. A lifelong resident of Carroll, Mr. Nestle was born here Nov. 17, 1899, a son of George and Mary Nestle, both of whom preceded him in death. His father, who died in 1904 had served as Carroll county sheriff. His mother died in 1946. After the death of his father, Mr. Nestle and his brother, Harry Nestle, were reared by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Beiter, who took the two boys into their home in 1906. Mrs. Beiter is their aunt. Mr. Nestle interrupted his schooling in his sophomore year at Carroll high school to join the marines during World War I. He enlisted as the youngest marine in the state of Iowa, joining the Fifth Marine Division August 7, 1918, at Parris Island, S.C. He landed overseas Oct. 21, 1918. Returning to this country August 3, 1919, he received his discharge August 13, 1919, at the marine base, Quantico, Va. After coming back to Carroll, George completed his course at Carroll high school in 1921. He then went into the hide and fur business with Frank Beiter, with whom he was associated until Mr. Beiter's death in 1949. Since then, he had operated the business alone. Mr. Nestle was married Nov. 12, 1923, at St. Joseph's church here by the Rev. Stephen Butler to Rose Garry, who survives. He also leaves his brother, Harry Nestle of Burlington. He was a member of St. Joseph's church and the Holy Name society of the parish.
