Description	:	George R. Wilson 1925 - 2012 George Richard Wilson, 87, of Huron and formerly of Miller, passed away Monday, November 5, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls. Funeral service was held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Reck Funeral Home, Miller with visitation starting at 10:30 a.m. Burial followed at G.A.R. Cemetery, Miller with military honors. George was born at home on a farm south of Ree Heights to John and Gladys (Howard) Wilson on September 3, 1925. Wilson 1925 - 2012 George Richard Wilson, 87, of Huron and formerly of Miller, passed away Monday, November 5, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls. Funeral service was held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Reck Funeral Home, Miller with visitation starting at 10:30 a.m. Burial followed at G.A.R. Cemetery, Miller with military honors. George was born at home on a farm south of Ree Heights to John and Gladys (Howard) Wilson on September 3, 1925. George was drafted out of St. Lawrence High School to serve in World War II. While serving, George was shot in cross fire and lost his left arm just months before the war was over. He received a Purple Heart and several other medals while serving his country. George returned to Miller, married Mary Jean Daley and they raised three children until her death in 1955. In 1957, George married Mary Jane Gabriel and together they had five more children and were married for 55 years. While in Miller, George worked as Register of Deeds and Hand County Treasurer. He also farmed off and on for many years. In 1969, the family moved to Huron. In April of this year, George and Mary Jane moved to Sioux Falls while Mary Jane sought medical care. George is survived by his eight children: Dick (Sharon) Wilson of Sioux Falls, Diane (Kurt) Enget of Sioux Falls, David (Gail) Wilson of Scottsdale, AZ, Deb Hart of Huron, Tim (Cheryl) Wilson of Sioux Falls, Rod (Michelle) Wilson of Sioux Falls, Randy Wilson of Sioux Falls, and Georgene (Mike) Becker of Sioux Falls; 26 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Joann (Richard) Kruger of Groton, SD; 3 sisters-in-law: Rita Rudloff of Huron, Gloria Clarke of Ottertail, MN and Susan Rasmussen of Kauhauna, WI, along with numerous nieces and nephews. George is preceded in death by two spouses, Mary Jean Wilson and Mary Jane Wilson; brothers: Marvin Wilson and Howard Wilson; sister, Dorothy Nolz and parents, John and Gladys Wilson.
