Howard Arthur Wilson was born October 30, 1921 in Hand county to John and Gladys Wilson. He grew up in Hand County and graduated from St. Lawrence High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II on July 9, 1942. He served in the European Theater and was discharged November 21, 1945. He married Lucille Kelly on May 22, 1946. He farmed for eight years and then worked at Tri-State for many years, retiring from there in 1983. Survivors include six children, Peggy (Ed) Hargens of Fairborn, Ohio, John (Shelly) Wilson of Huron, Tom (Eileen) Wilson of Calloway, Neb., Annette (Kenny) Alumbaugh of Sioux Falls, Betty Jo (Ron) Welch of Miller and Roxanne (Tim) Zacher of Miller; seventeen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, George (Mary Jane) Wilson of Huron; one sister, Jo Ann (Richard) Krueger of Groton; and one sister-in-law, Edith Wilson of Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lucille; an infant son, Kenny; one brother, Marvin; and one sister, Dorothy Nolz. Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Kim Hanzl; Jennifer Hargens; Gerrin, Adam and Matthew Wilson; Jill and Sarah Alumbaugh; Michelle and Amy Welch; and Nathan Zacher. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lora Lie; Erika and Ashley Wilson; Todd and Jeffrey Zacher; Amy and Jason Burnett, and Anna, Thomas and Jacob Hanzl.
