Description	:	George Shroyer, 59, who lived on Highway 3 eight miles south and 1 1/2 miles west of Nelson, died instantly when he was crushed by a big Caterpillar tractor in a pasture just west of his home Tuesday afternoon. Shroyer left the house about 1:30 p.m. to go three-quarters of a mile south to the home of his son-in-law, Bryce Ray, to help with some farm work. Read More	George Shroyer, 59, who lived on Highway 3 eight miles south and 1 1/2 miles west of Nelson, died instantly when he was crushed by a big Caterpillar tractor in a pasture just west of his home Tuesday afternoon. Shroyer left the house about 1:30 p.m. to go three-quarters of a mile south to the home of his son-in-law, Bryce Ray, to help with some farm work. He cut south through the pasture and had apparently gotten off the tractor to open a gate. It is supposed that as he was remounting the tractor he slipped and struck the hand clutch which again put the machine in motion. Examining authorities believe that he was caught in the moving tread and carried beneath the tractor. It appeared that he was drug about 40 feet and the tractor continued on about an eighth of a mile before it stalled. Ray and a son, Donald Shroyer, began a search for their father late in the afternoon and found him about 5 o'clock. Dr. Arnold Webman of Superior and County Attorney C.S. Brubaker were immediately called to the scene. Shroyer had divided his time between farm work and part-time employment at the Superior cement plant. Surviving are his wife, Dessie; the son, Donald; a daughter, Mrs. Beulah Ray; and four sisters. Funeral services are to be conducted at two o'clock Friday afternoon at Priest's funeral home in Superior. Burial is to be made in Evergreen cemetery there.
