Son of Peter Storm and Sarah Black OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, April 18, 1946 GEORGE STORM George Storm, son of Sally and Peter Storm, was born in Keokuk county, Iowa, November 28, 1860, and died at the home of his son, Corwin and daughter Lillie, north of the Green Plain church, March 5, 1946, at the age of 86 years, three months and five days. When a small boy, he went in a covered wagon from Keokuk county to Marion county and from there to Lucas county, where he lived most of his life until 1936, when he moved to Warren county. He was actively engaged in farming until 1930. At an early age he united with the Zion Methodist church and has been a faithful member. On April 5, 1884, he was married to Adda Ann Henry, who preceded him in death June 17, 1931. To this union were born 12 children Corwin N. of Milo; William M., who preceded his father in death on June 3, 1943; Jobe H. of Chariton; Mrs. Lillie Spencer of Milo; Mrs. Beneta Skinner of Rock Island, Ill.; Mrs. Kate Sylvara of Chariton; Mrs. Lucy Fortune of Knoxville; Loran S. of Chariton; Levi C. of Knoxville; Johnnie Bryant and an infant son, both preceding him in death. He leaves to mourn his departure four sons and five daughters; one aged sister, Rebecca Stuart of Littleton, Colo.; 56 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many other relatives and a large number of friends. His parents, six brothers and one sister preceded him in death. For the past year he had been unable to walk but always had a kind word and a pleasant smile for the many friends who came often with cheerful words to help while away the long weary hours. Brief funeral services were held at the home of his son and daughter, March 7 at 12 noon and the regular service was held at the Zion Methodist church at 2:30. The Rev. James Robinson of Knoxville and the Rev. Harold N. Olson of Milo conducted the services. Singers from the Green Plain Methodist church, consisting of Mrs. Gladys Downing and Mrs. Harold N. Olson, with Mrs. Tom Spauer as pianist, sang "Going Down the Valley" "The Old Rugged Cross; and "Crossing the Bar." Interment was in the Zion cemetery.
