He had been bothered for some time by chicken thieves and had decided to put a stop to the stealing. Read More	Stratford Courier November 5, 1903 VICTIM OF HIS OWN TRAP Tom Paul, who lived a few miles south of Lehigh, was shot by his own trap Monday night, a week ago. He had been bothered for some time by chicken thieves and had decided to put a stop to the stealing. On Monday he placed a gun near the chicken house door in such a position as to discharge when the door was opened. Late Monday night he wished to enter the chicken house which he did, but opened the door too wide, with the result that the gun was discharged, the contents passing way through his leg. He was taken to a physician at once and the injured man was made to rest as easy as possible, but blood poison set in and he died Thursday morning. George Thomas Paul was born in Hook's Point, near Stratford, February 12, 1880, and died at the home of his parents at Lehigh October 29, 1903, aged 23 years, 8 months and 17 days. The funeral services were conducted at Lehigh in the Church of Christ at 10 o'clock Friday morning, conducted by W.S. Lemmon and B.V. Shoemaker and the remains were buried in the Hook's Point cemetery.
