George Timmerman was born April 8, 1884 in Germany to John and Meta Timmerman. The family came to the United States when he was nine years old, settling in Pierce County. He attended rural school. He married Emma Reiners on July 21, 1908 at Golgotha Lutheran Church west of Wausa. Seven children were born to them. They farmed near Plainview and Creighton, moving into Creighton in 1952. Mr. Timmerman farmed most of his life but later did construction work and was employed for a time at the Brunswick Lockers before his complete retirement. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith as an infant in Germany. He was confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in 1898. He was a member of the church at his death but at one time was a member of the Eden Valley Lutheran Church near Plainview. Mr. Timmerman became a naturalized citizen May 1, 1946. He had lived at the Care Center since the death of his wife May 7, 1968. Surviving are his sons and daughters, Alva of Rockwell, Ia., Mrs. Albert (Frieda) Krugman and Walter of Creighton, Mrs. Henry (Verna) Johnson of Meadow Grove, Mrs. John (Helen) Dubes of Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Louise Baller of Brunswick and Leon Timmerman of Verdigre; 24 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Giebelstein of Davenport, Ia., and Mrs. Edward (Hannah) Krugman of O'Neill and one brother, Willie of Osmond. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, Herman, Dick and Gust and one sister, Mrs. Anna Hilkemeier.
