Lynn Riege officiated the 2:00 p.m. service with interment in Greenwood Cemetery in Creighton. Military Honors: VGW Post #1151 and American Legion Post #74. Pallbearers: His grandchildren. Walter W. Timmerman, son of George and Emma (Reiners) Timmerman was born June 30, 1919 in Knox County, Nebraska. He attended rural school northeast of Creighton. On February 25, 1947 he was married to Ruby Kumm at Christ Lutheran Church in Bazile Mills, NE. Four children were born to them, Cheryl, Peggy, Brenda and Greg. Walt served in the U.S. Armed Forces for 4 years during WWII. He was 1st Scout in the 3rd Division at Casablanca, North Africa on November 11, 1942. During his years in the service, he earned the Combat Infantry Badge, Invasion Arrowhead and four Battle Stars. After returning home, he and Ruby lived on the farm northeast of Creighton until 1969, when they moved to town. Walt continued to farm and raise cattle until 1999. He loved hunting and fishing. Walt had been a resident of Pierce Manor since 2002. He was a member of Zion Lutheran church in Creighton and a lifetime member of the VFW. He passed away February 23, 2005 at the age of 85 at Pierce Manor in Pierce. Survivors include his wife, Ruby, of Norfolk; children and their spouses, Cheryl and Jim Hopkins of Sioux City, IA; Peg and Dave Roker of Battle Creek; Brenda and Doug Seegebarth of Hadar and Greg and Tammy Timmerman of Norfolk; ten grandchildren; a sister, Louise Rader of Brunswick and a brother, Leon Timmerman of Verdigre.
