Description	:	GEORGE W. BOX George Walter Box, 64, of Ottumwa route 1, died at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines at 8pm Saturday. He was the son of John and Martha Christy Box, and was born in Eldon June 21 1888. He had been a farmer all of his life and a resident of Wapello county for 47 years. BOX George Walter Box, 64, of Ottumwa route 1, died at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines at 8pm Saturday. He was the son of John and Martha Christy Box, and was born in Eldon June 21 1888. He had been a farmer all of his life and a resident of Wapello county for 47 years. He was a charter member of the O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 American Legion, 42nd Rainbow Division and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 775. He served with the national guard, 3rd Iowa infantry on the Mexican border in 1916, and was a veteran of World War I. He enlisted in Ottumwa in May 1917, and was discharged in March 1919. He served in France for several months in the Rainbow Division. He is survived by his wife, Mable; two sons, Elmer Box and Frank Box, both of route 1 Ottumwa; three daughters, Mrs. Ellen Woodruff of Moundsville, W.Va., Mrs. Ruth Heckart and Mrs Goldie Applegate, both of Ottumwa; two brothers, A. H. Box of route 1 Ottumwa and Roy Box of Eldon; and one sister, Mrs. Lettie McCoy of Eldon. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mrs. Lena Debarn and two half-sisters. Funeral services will be held at the Johnson funeral chapel at 3pm Tuesday, in charge of the Rev. E.M. Boyer. Burial will be in the Ottumwa cemetery. Military services will be held by the F.F.W. Post No. 775. Pallbearers will be Jesse Young, Fred Schmidtz, George B ???, Harvey St???, Owen F??? and Todd Orman. Son, Frank Max Box - Memorial# 19512491
