The deceased was killed by the accidental discharge of a shotgun while talking with three of his neighbors Sunday forenoon. As reported here Mr. Shamberger had gone out in his orchard and taken his shot gun along in case he saw a grouse as the season opened that day. Coming to the road between his neighbor's place and his own he stopped to talk with Richard Stevens, Bul Hutton and Leslie Courchim. He was telling them about his new gun which was a Winchester hammerless and finally sat down on the running board of the car which they were driving, resting the gun on the toe of his shoe. As he talked the gun slipped from his toe and slid into a shallow irrigation ditch along the road. The jar released the trigger and the charge of shot entered his chest just above the heart. Witnesses told the local mortician that he stood to his feet looked down at his breast and toppled over forward, killed almost instantly. An examination showed that only two shot had penetrated the heart but that the charge had severed the circulatory arteries leading from it. A doctor was called but death was found to have been almost instantaneous. The deceased is survived by his wife Ethel Shamberger and two children Vernon and Hazel, also numerous other relatives.
