Description	:	George Washington Neely, 65, of Atlantic, Spanish American War Veteran, who was for many years a resident of Villisca, was buried here in the Villisca Cemetery, Friday afternoon, with military honors by a firing squad from Company F. of Villisca. Funeral services were held in the Villisca Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. W. F. Clayburg, pastor of the local Methodist Church. The music was by Mrs. Cy Underwood and Mrs. H. H. Mr. Neely was born July 21, 1872, at Villisca, Iowa, son of David and Mary Craven Neely. He grew to young manhood here and was married November 1, 1903, to Miss Lillie Bl Higgins. They resided in Villisca until 18 years ago when they moved to the Red Oak vicinity, living there until they moved to Atlantic in 1928. On April 28, 1898, Mr. Neely enlisted with the 51st infantry, Co. B. Iowa Volunteers and was mustered out of service at San Francisco on May 20, 1899. He leaves a widow of Atlantic, a son, Mervin Neely, Griswold, Iowa; a daughter, Mrs. Ross Reynolds, Los Angeles, California; and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Kelly, Denver, Colorado.
