Description	:	GEORGE WILEY CUSHING, 66George Wiley Cushing of Pocahontas was born August 26, 1905 in Fowler, Colorado, and died in Pocahontas on September 5, 1971. Mr. Cushing had been employed by the Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 39 years. He had been located in Carroll, Storm Lake, Newell and Pocahontas, and was manager in Pocahontas for 17 years, retiring in 1968.He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Rotary Club and served on many church and community projects. Read More	GEORGE WILEY CUSHING, 66George Wiley Cushing of Pocahontas was born August 26, 1905 in Fowler, Colorado, and died in Pocahontas on September 5, 1971. Mr. Cushing had been employed by the Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 39 years. He had been located in Carroll, Storm Lake, Newell and Pocahontas, and was manager in Pocahontas for 17 years, retiring in 1968.He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Rotary Club and served on many church and community projects. He also served 4 years in the Navy. He was married to Irene Goodwin of Carroll on June 80, 1932. Survivors, besides his wife, Irene, are one son, Kenneth W. Cushing; daughter-in-law, Wanda, and two granddaughters of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Iredale of Portland, Oregon; one brother, Charles C. Cushing of Woodbine; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers. Services were held in the United Methodist Church on September 8, with burial in Summit Cemetery at Pocahontas. Great-nephew's notes: Uncle George had an in creditable sense of humor especially if a camera was present, but he was a very deep thinker and often involved in Church Financial activities. He would go fishing with brother Charles in Canada on occasion and he seemed to enjoy this immensely. I do not believe George ever resided in Woodbine IA, unless it was with brother Charles for a short time as a young man.
