Read More	The Daily Press (Newport News, Va.), Wed, 19 Nov 2008 George Wrayfield Oliver George 'Wrayfield' Oliver, 72, passed away Nov. 17, 2008, at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. Born on Aug. 7, 1936, in Mathews County, Va., he was a 1956 graduate of Gloucester High School. He was employed by The Coca Cola Bottling Company for 35 years. After retiring from Coca Cola, he opened his own business, known as Gloucester Concessions, that he ran for more than 14 years. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, and a member of the Men's Class II. He was a member of Gloucester Volunteer Fire Department since 1964. He was a charter member of Gloucester Volunteer Rescue Squad, when it was incorporated into the fire department in 1968. He was also a member of The Harcum Hunt Club. Wrayfield loved people and his community, he knew no stranger and was always happy to give out a 'coke and a smile.' He gave generously, expecting nothing in return, and was honest in all his dealings. He was a man of his word and a handshake was enough for him. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Wilton Oliver and Belva Rose Oliver of Gloucester, Va.; and one brother, Arthur Lee Oliver of Hayes, Va. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 52 years, Martha H. Oliver, 'Betsy'; his daughters, Martha O. Clements and her husband, J.D., Mary O. Boerner and her husband, Richard Dixon; two grandchildren, Susan C. Durant and her husband, Christopher, Wray R. Boerner and his special friend, Dana Leon; one great-granddaughter, Hailey E. Boerne; two sisters, Anna Morrision, and Nettie O. West; a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, Nov. 19, at Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Richard Ford and the Rev. Ray P. Goude Sr., at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Ebenezer Baptist Church. The family invites family and friends to join them for fellowship after the funeral services in Ebenezer Baptist Church social hall. Memorial donations may be made to the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad or to Ebenezer Baptist Church. A special thanks to all the staff and nurses at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, Dr. Robert T. Davis, Dr. Ronald D. Haggerty, Riverside Hospice and to our special friends and family for all their continued support. Andrews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
