With her parents and family she moved to Kansas and lived on their farm east of Vermillion, Kansas until her marriage. She was baptized in her early girlhood in the Christian Church and lived true to her faith all through her entire life. With her parents and family she moved to Kansas and lived on their farm east of Vermillion, Kansas until her marriage. She was baptized in her early girlhood in the Christian Church and lived true to her faith all through her entire life. April 19, 1899, she was united in marriage to Clinton Schafer at her parents home near Centralia, Kansas and they made their home on a farm south of Vermillion until 1902. They moved to Hydro, Oklahoma, where they resided for four years, then returned to Vermillion where they spent their remaining years. Mrs. Schafer is survived by four daughters,Mrs. W.D. Smith, Vermillion, Kansas, Mrs.Otto Reinback, Hutchinson, Kansas, Mrs. Gertrude Shepherd, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mrs.Harold Duffy, Vermillion, Kansas; two sons,James C. Schafer, Vermillion, Kansas and C. Paul Schafer, Ardsley, New York. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. John Schafer, Centralia, Mrs. Charles Knight, El Monte, California, Mrs. Ray Birchfield,Los Angeles, California; twelve grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Clinton; three sisters and twobrothers. Burial was in the Vermillion Cemetery, Vermillion, Kansas.
