Burial with military honors will be in the Mineral Ridge Cemetery, north of Boone. Gerald Dean Pfrimmer was born in Lucas, Iowa, on January 4, 1933, the son of George and Loy (Hall) Pfrimmer. He served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. On May 29, 1955, Dean married Colleen Walters in Boone. For over 30 years, Dean owned and operated G and D Sanitation in Boone and Hamilton counties, retiring in January of 1996. For 33 years, he raised and showed mules; his favorites were Cinder, April, and Jackie. He was a member of the Iowa Donkey and Mule Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Pilot Mound, and the Old Geezers Trail Riders. Dean enjoyed old country music, Monday night card games, and deer hunting. He also liked visiting casinos, trail riding with Colleen, and showing his mules all over the country. He especially enjoyed times with his grandchildren. Dean served as sexton and caretaker of the Mineral Ridge Cemetery for 20 years.
