Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. The Rev. Richard Piontkowski will officiate. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Charles E. Martin American Legion Post 186 of Greeley. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at the church. Read More	GREELEY — Gerald E. “Jerry” Happ, 70, of Greeley passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, at his home in Greeley with his family by his side. Jerry was born April 22, 1948, at Greeley to Joseph and Ethel (Purdy) Happ. He attended grade school at Greeley County District 54 and graduated in 1966 from Sacred Heart High School, where he was active in sports and was class president. Jerry attended St. Joseph’s Seminary in Denver in 1967 and 1968. He then served in the U.S. Army in 1968 and 1969 with a tour in Vietnam. Following the service he worked on the family farm, where his interests were management of the cattle herd, soil and irrigation, until 2016. Jerry was a member of the Greeley Sacred Heart Parish; his faith was important to him. As a member of Charles E. Martin American Legion Post 186, he participated in the military honor guard at many local veterans’ funerals. Being interested in sports, he attended many local and regional sporting events and coached many young people. He loved to drive and traveled many miles and knew many people in the area. He was always willing to give someone a hand when needed. He enjoyed country and polka music, and had an interest in politics and nutritional healing. Survivors include six brothers and three sisters-in-law, Jim and Peggy, Joe and Karen, Ted and Patty, Larry, Peter and Paul; seven sisters and five brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Ervin Woltman, Jeanne, Rosie and Howard Leino, Terri and John Burke, Judy Maller, Diane Howeth, Mary and Matt Glesinger and Charles Carper; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and a close family of special friends who enriched his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marilyn Carper; and two brothers-in-law, Jeff Maller and Tom Howeth.
