Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney with the Rev. Gary Main officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Sutton Cemetery. He was born July 26, 1943, in Orlando, Fla., to Edwin and Laurietta (Burbach) Fuehrer. On Sept. 20, 1969, he married Linda Curren in Ogallala. Survivors include his wife; daughter, Sasha Elizabeth Conrad of Kearney; sister, Dee Fuehrer of Lincoln; parents-in-law, Kenneth and Elaine Curren of Minden; and nephew, Scott Worster of Austin, Texas. He grew up in Sutton and was a member of the Sutton Federated Church and also an active member of Boy Scouts of America, achieving the level of Eagle Scout. Jerry graduated from Sutton High School in 1961 and received his degree in electronic engineering from Southeast Community College in 1963. Jerry first worked as an engineer at KNOP-TV in North Platte, moved to Channel 3 in Omaha then returned to KNOP-TV in North Platte as chief engineer, a position he served in from 1964 to 1968. He and Linda made their home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where Jerry worked for KCRG-TV as assistant chief engineer from 1968 to 1979. For the next 35 years, from 1979 to the time of his death, Jerry served as chief engineer for Pappas Telecasting and NTV Network. He also was co-owner of the family business, Fuehrer's Cheespred, made in his hometown of Sutton. Jerry entered the National Guard in 1964 and was honorably discharged in 1969. He was a member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers, the Sutton Chapter of American Legion and the American Radio Relay League. He maintained a ham-radio license since high school. His hobbies included reading mysteries; watching TV documentaries, specifically of the World War II era; listening to music from the 1950s and 1960s; visiting with neighbors and co-workers; spending time in his home electronics shop; and enjoying the company of the household pets, Alyssum and June. He was preceded in death by his parents.
