Jones, May 15, 1923 - Oct. 18, 2012, Mr. Gerald "Jerry" Jones, 89, Rochester, passed away at 2:25 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at Life Care Center of Rochester. He was born in Richland Center on May 15, 1923, to Ray D. and Mildred Eash Jones. Jerry was a proud U.S. Navy veteran. He served with the U.S .Marines on Pacific Islands. During WWII, he was a radio man for the Navy. On Sept. 16, 1954, Jerry and Mary Alice Long were married in Ligonier. Jerry retired as a train master from the Wabash Railroad in 1983. He was also a train dispatcher. His memberships include the First Christian Church, the LeRoy Shelton American Legion Post No. 36 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1343, Motor City Radio Club, Moslem Radio Club, the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary Alice; one daughter, Laura Keller and husband Vance, of Lake Okeechobee, Fla.; two sons, Howard Jones, of Rochester, John Jones and wife Sharon, of Trenton, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Sara Jean Harmon, and nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Thomas W. Jones; and one brother, Waldon A "Casey" Jones. A celebration of the life of Gerald "Jerry" R. Jones is 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at the Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, with Pastor Mike VanHeyningen officiating. Friends may visit with the family from noon-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at the funeral home. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Veterans Honor Guard and the US Navy Honor Guard. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hope Hospice of Fulton County.
