Description	:	UNION -- Gerald Thomas "Cookie" Lawson, 58, of 202 Lakeview Heights died June 17, 1999, in his home after a lengthy illness. A native of Union, he was son of the late W.T. and Nettie Greene Lawson. He was a member of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church, Union BPO Elk's Lodge No. 1321 where he was selected Elk of the Year in 1980 and 1981 and was a member of the Mid-Atlantic Cushman Club of America. Read More	UNION -- Gerald Thomas "Cookie" Lawson, 58, of 202 Lakeview Heights died June 17, 1999, in his home after a lengthy illness. A native of Union, he was son of the late W.T. and Nettie Greene Lawson. He was a member of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church, Union BPO Elk's Lodge No. 1321 where he was selected Elk of the Year in 1980 and 1981 and was a member of the Mid-Atlantic Cushman Club of America. He was a graduate of Union High School and was employed as an electrician for Carlisle Finishing Plant for 40 years, with a perfect attendance record for the past 25 years. Surviving are his wife, Jean McKinney Lawson; three daughters, Tami Black, Amy Kingsmore and Jill S. Lawson, all of Union; three sisters, Carole Clark of Columbia, Ann Callison of West Columbia and Frances Gregory of Union; and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home in Union. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mon-Aetna Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Benny Green. Burial will be in Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. The family is at the home. Memorials may be made to Mon-Aetna Baptist Church Building Fund, 1431 Lockhart Highway, Union; or to the Union County Cancer Services, c/o Ola Jean Kelly, 117 Fant Lane, Union, 29379.
