Geri was born on March 13, 1922, in West Bend, Iowa, the daughter of Patrick Francis "Frank" and Bridget Calligan Sweeney. She was raised and attended schools in West Bend. She followed her brother, Gene Sweeney, and his wife, Gayle, to Wichita where Geri worked at an aircraft plant during World War II. Geri was born on March 13, 1922, in West Bend, Iowa, the daughter of Patrick Francis "Frank" and Bridget Calligan Sweeney. She was raised and attended schools in West Bend. She followed her brother, Gene Sweeney, and his wife, Gayle, to Wichita where Geri worked at an aircraft plant during World War II. Geri married Lowell Milton "Bunny" Mohler on April 25, 1946 in Newton. He died on July 15, 1975. Geri later married William H. Comer, who died in 1981. For many, years Geri operated a beauty shop in her home. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Newton. Survivors include her sister, Rita Derner of Algona, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald and Gene Sweeney; and sisters, Helen Fogarty and Lucille Sweeney. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Brethren. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation. A memorial has been established with the Newton Area Senior Center or the Church of the Brethren. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
