She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two infant sons; a sister and two brothers. Gertrude Wenger was born Aug 29, 1922 in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of John and Rachel Gaddie Wenger. Gerry was a graduate of Monticello Community Schools. She then taught in the rural schools near Monticello. Gerry married Clarence Otten on July 12, 1945. The couple operated Otten's Cafe at Amber for many years. Clarence preceded her in death on Oct 15, 1978. Gerry worked at Camp Courageous as a cook until she retired. Gerry was married to Maurice Melvin in later years. He preceded her in death in 1990.
