Description	:	Gertrude "Gert" J. McCue, of Alma, Nebraska passed away from a long-term illness on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Colonial Villa, Alma, Nebraska. Gert was born on July 13, 1932 on a farm north of Arapahoe, Nebraska to Herman & Bertha (Gehring) Monter. Gert graduated from Arapahoe (NE.) High School with the class of 1950 and married her high school sweetheart Eugene "Hoppy" McCue in 1954. Gert and Hoppy were married for 60 years and had three sons. McCue, of Alma, Nebraska passed away from a long-term illness on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Colonial Villa, Alma, Nebraska. Gert was born on July 13, 1932 on a farm north of Arapahoe, Nebraska to Herman & Bertha (Gehring) Monter. Gert graduated from Arapahoe (NE.) High School with the class of 1950 and married her high school sweetheart Eugene "Hoppy" McCue in 1954. Gert and Hoppy were married for 60 years and had three sons. She worked as a beautician, for the local newspaper and in an agri-business as a secretary and bookkeeper in Tekamah and Alma Nebraska. As an avid reader, Gert loved her last job as a librarian at the Alma library before retiring and spending more time with her church, family, gardening and winters in Arizona. Gert was preceded in death by: parents and sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Ron Glanzer. Gert was a loving and caring wife, mother and friend and will be missed by all. The family would like to thank her many friends over the years for their friendship to Gert. A Celebration of Life service was held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 11 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church, Alma Nebraska. A graveside gathering of the immediate family will be held later at the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska.
