Gertrude Isabelle Goreham was born on November 22, 1909 at Fair Hope Farm near Odebolt, Iowa to Edson and Mabel (Lester) Goreham. On November 27, 1930, she was united in marriage to Lyle J. Gertrude Isabelle Goreham was born on November 22, 1909 at Fair Hope Farm near Odebolt, Iowa to Edson and Mabel (Lester) Goreham. On November 27, 1930, she was united in marriage to Lyle J. Paul at the home of her parents. Two daughters, Velma and Darlene, were born to this union. Gertrude and her husband, Lyle, resided and farmed the C.A. Paul farm south of Odebolt until 1951 when they purchased and moved to the C.A. Paul estate farm north of Odebolt. After Lyle died on October 30, 1974, Gertrude continued to live on the farm until 1994, when she moved to a home in Odebolt. Gertrude attended and graduated from the Odebolt Public School. She was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Odebolt, sang in the choir and held the positions of elder, trustee and deacon. Gertrude was a fifty-year-plus member of the Order of Eastern Star along with memberships in many other various clubs and organizations. She may be best remembered for her many artistic talents which include corn cob dolls and tatted note cards. Survivors include her two daughters, Velma and husband, Richard Watts, of Sac City; Darlene and husband, Paul Bengford, of Fort Collins, Colorado; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle, parents, five sisters and one brother, who died in infancy. Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 15, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Odebolt with Rev. Charles Bulger officiating. She was laid to rest in the Odebolt Cemetery.
