Mr and Mrs Ike Brandt left that evening to be with their daughter, but they were unable to reach the bedside ere death overtook her, she passing away at 8am Sat. morning May 7. Mr Taylor was with her when death came. Her demise was due to complications setting in after she had safely passed through an operation at the hospital on April 26. Her remains were taken back to Gordon where funeral services were held on Monday and which were attended by all of her close surviving relatives. Gertie May Brandt was born Jun 26 1890 at Hooper and at the time of her death was 36 years, 10 months, and 11 days of age. On Jun 1 1911 she was married to John Tillman and to this union one son Boyd was born. On Jan 20 1915 she was united in marriage to James Francis Taylor of Winside at Sioux City Iowa. To this union 5 children were born, Harold, Frances, Leo, Lois, and Colleen. Surviving are her husband and six children, her parents Mrs and Mr Ike Brandt of Hooper, six brothers and 3 sisters, Mrs Harvey Warner, Mrs Charles Johnson, Albert, Martin, Carrell, and Miss Ruby Brandt of this locatily. Edward Brandt of Scribner, Eskel Brandt of Oakdale, and John Brandt of O'Neill. Most of her life was spent in and around Hooper until the time she was married to Mr Taylor. They lived at Winside for a short time and for the past number of years have resided south of Gordon. In view of the fact that this community had been her home most of her life, Mrs Taylor was well known here and had many friends among our people who heard with much regret the news of her demise, and who now extend to the bereaved relatives heartfelt sympathy in their hour of sorrow.
